Mental health is an integral component of concept of health defined by WHO. The department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences FRPMC aims to promote mental health by delivering clinical services of highest quality to needy psychiatric patients of community. The department would teach behavioral sciences which will help the students to understand behavior issues of patients & their attendants in different clinical situations. The department will prepare undergraduates to acquire necessary knowledge & skills to deal with common psychiatric disorders and other mental health issues in hospital based & community settings. Department of psychiatry is headed by Prof Sohail Ahmed and the department provides in-patient & out-patient services at Faisal base & Masroor base hospitals. The department plans to conduct programs for increasing awareness and reducing stigma related to field of psychiatry among students, faculty members & in community.
