Community Medicine Department

Community Medicine (CM) a branch of medicine dealing with healthcare issues affecting communities as a whole. Fazaia Ruth Pfau Medical College (FRPMC) Department of Community Medicine is a pivotal entity as public health institution. The vision of the Air University set the direction for the college to take a lead in community development and the creation of an innovative curriculum that emphasizes a balance between tertiary care and population health. Department of Community Medicine is staffed with one associate professor, two assistant professors, five lecturers / demonstrators, one statistician and one social worker. At the Department of Community Medicine, we carry out research within many aspects of public health, such as development of primary health care, public health practice, health systems development, the evidence-based approach, reproductive health and environmental and occupational health at the college. A pivotal role of department is teaching CM curriculum to undergraduate medical students. It encompasses wide range of public health topics. Scope of CM is vast. Students will learn the concepts and tools, for e.g. epidemiology and biostatistics, to hone their research skills. They can work as an academic and/or researcher in different fields of public health.
